A Camelot for Sufferers of Chronic Pain

We Shall Always Dance with You Deborah Kerr

Shall We Dance

Sometimes we often do not realize the beautiful moments another person has given us till we hear they have left us.   With great sadness we heard that Deborah Kerr, after suffering with Parkinson’s disease, had passed away.   Born in Scotland, she had an amazing career as an actress bringing her great gift often to the movie screen.

One of my favourite movies growing up was “The King and I”.  I could not wait for the moment when the King of Siam ( Yul  Brynner)  turns to Anna and proclaims,

“A girl must be like a blossom, with honey for just one man.
A man must live like honeybee, and gather all he can.
To fly from blossom to blossom, a honeybee must be free
But blossom must never fly, from bee to bee to bee.”
And so begins the famous scene “Shall We Dance” etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!

And who will ever forget the last scene in “An Affair to Remember” between Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant as he is about to leave her forever.   Here is that moving moment that is full of restrained passion.

In “Tea and Sympathy” she played an intricate character that felt compassion for a young man who felt ostracized. She acted brilliantly.

Thank you Deborah for drawing me into your web of great stories that you brought to life.  For those of us who suffer much pain, it means so much when someone uses their art to bring us a moment of beauty.  We shall miss you greatly.  Tonight I will think of you and Yul Brynner once again waltzing in that ballroom in Siam.   In Camelot both of you will always keep dancing.

Shall we dance?
On a bright cloud of music shall we fly?
Shall we dance?
Shall we then say “Goodnight and mean “Goodbye”?
Or perchance,
When the last little star has left the sky,
Shall we still be together?
