Knights of the Pain Table

A Camelot for Sufferers of Chronic Pain

A “Songbird” Eva Cassidy doth Sing from “Fields of Gold” in thy Kingdom

Eva Cassidy

As the sun did set,   a cloud of languor lay over the Kingdom of Camelot.     In fere, they had celebrated, but they were now weak in body from wearing the heavy armour that was their fate.

Far in the distance the Knights and the Familia Regis  heard a voice that seemed to float on the mist of the clouds.    Clothed in heavenly light, in the fields of Gold in Camelot, the fair maiden, Lady Eva,   did singeth  “Songbird” to the fragile Knights.

Songbird

For you there’ll be no crying
For you the sun will be shining
Cause I feel that when I’m with you
It’s alright, I know it’s right

And the songbirds keep singing
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before

To you, I would give the world
To you, I’d never be cold
Cause I feel that when I’m with you
It’s alright, I know it’s right

And the songbirds keep singing
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before

Written by Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac

Notes on Eva Cassidy:

In 1996,  this young woman,  Eva Cassidy,  was told she had melanoma and had three months to live as the cancer had spread to her bones.     The world had not been introduced, yet,  to this gifted singer and she did leave us at the age of 33.    With a genuine quality and beautiful vulnerability,   she would play her acoustic guitar and sing around the area of Washington D.C., USA.     Her career was just beginning and she had to leave us.

But she left part of her behind.    Her posthumous recordings have since sold in excess of four million copies and in early 2001 the compilation album “Songbird”, reached #1 on the UK album charts.    Eva Cassidy,  a voice not forgotten.

Eva Cassidy’s favourite time was sunset,  which she called  “the golden time.” So as the sun doth set at Camelot tonight,  let Eva’s voice carry you a little and ease your burden in the “Fields of Gold”.   “Fields of Gold”  was written by Sting.

We do loveth Eva Cassidy in Camelot and will hear her sing at each sunset over the Fields of Gold.
