A Camelot for Sufferers of Chronic Pain

Michael Vick's Pit Bulls – Journey from Violence and Suffering to a Sanctuary of Love

Sir Hector

This is a story of a dog, with thy name of Hector, that was subjected to deplorable violence.

Four year old Hector, is a pit bull that lived a torturous existence in Michael Vick’s Bad Newz  Kennels in Virginia, USA.   A formal NFL quarterback,  Michael Vick staged pit bull fights, and destroyed and disposed of dogs that were not good fighters.

When officers raided these kennels, they found injured and scarred dogs chained to car axles.   They also found dogs that had been shot,  electrocuted,  drowned or slammed to the ground for lacking a desire to fight.   They also found a  “rape stand”  used to restrain female dogs that did not want to breed.

And when the rescuers arrived to save and evaluate these little victims what did they find?  They found almost all the dogs did not show human aggression and were still social with other dogs.    After the beatings and the cruelty these little warriors still had love in their hearts for humans and each other.

Nearly half were sent to a Utah sanctuary called  “Best Friends Animal Society”  to perhaps be adopted one day.    A pit bull rescue group called, “Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit Bulls”, found foster homes for many of the dogs so they would not be confined.  Hector was one of these lucky dogs.

Hector now sleeps on a blanket and even listens to Yo-Yo Ma as he learns to trust again.

These brave four legged knights have suffered greatly and many will probably still be haunted with pain in their short lives.    But dogs are masters of forgiveness,  love, compassion and understanding.    All they want in life is to be with us and be loved.

Each time I want to hold on to an injustice or a memory of suffering in my heart,  I remember my dogs and I am humbled by their great love.

King Arthur of Camelot has bestowed a ‘Knighthood’ on Sir Hector and all his loyal friends.  We thanketh all those kind souls who have lessened the suffering of these little victims of violent crime.  Each one of you is a White Knight and we honour you.

Sir Hector and your fellow Vicktory knights we hold you in our prayers.

This song is for thou, Sir Hector.  This is Yo-Yo Ma playing “Silent Woods” by Antonin Dvorak.

He shall rot in hell for want he has gone, actually, rot in jail. Hope someone “rapes” him!

  3. Lady Sharon says:

    Dear Linda,

I share your pain in reading about the suffering these helpless dogs endured. I do not think that Michael Vick will suffer near what they suffered even in jail.

Human beings have the potential to be very cruel and unless we learn empathy and compassion, we will continue to hurt the creatures of this earth that are in our care, as well as ourselves.

“All the arguments to prove man’s superiority cannot shatter this hard fact: in suffering the animals are our equals.”
    by Peter Singer

I thanketh you for your compassion Linda. You have a good heart. Let us try to teach compassion wherever we can, for that is the only way that we, as human beings, can stop being cruel and indifferent.

    Take care Linda,

I only WISH that Michael Vick and all of his allies in this cruel crime got the EXACT same treatment that they have done to those HELPLESS animals!! I would love to see them ENDURE those acts of VIOLENCE and TORTURE times 10!!!!

  5. Lady Sharon says:

    Dear Cherie,

They did inflict torture and violence towards those innocent animals. They are not alone. It would be more fair if perhaps the offender could feel the exact way that the victim felt during the offence. But it still may not solve the problem of cruelty in the world. Ideally respect for all those who are vulnerable should be taught to children, so they learn compassion from the beginning. And we must protect our children so that they are not abused and then grow up to be abusers.

I can feel your passion to protect these creatures in our care Cherie. The world needs more people like you.

We thank you for sharing your thoughts and understand your compassion. Take care for you are important to us.
