Knights of the Pain Table

A Camelot for Sufferers of Chronic Pain

Take Me Away to a Secret Place Natasha Bedingfield with A “PocketFul of Sunshine”

Natasha Bedingfield

Natasha Bedingfield is one of the extremely talented British artists that make up the Britpop Invasion.  This is song is Natasha’s  second US single to be taken from the new album ‘PocketFul Of Sunshine’. Bedingfield recorded her first album Unwritten in 2004.

In 2007, she received a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” for the song “Unwritten”.      Natasha Bedingfield has achieved five top ten singles in the United Kingdom to date.     Listen to “PocketFul of Sunshine”.

In the darkness, there’s light.

And nobody cries. There’s only butterflies.

This song with the upbeat tempo and Natasha’s strong rich cheerful vocals bring us to another place.   Natasha we want to go with you wherever you are going.    For those who suffer with a chronic illness or pain, escape is vital for a break from the controlling force.    We will take some of your sunshine and put it in the pocket of our armour.   And when it gets dark we will take it out and the butterflies will emerge and fly toward the sparkling sun.

We will rideth bareback upon Shadowfax with his white mane through the Hobbits’ Shire with Gandalf .   We will follow Dickon into the enchanted Secret Garden in Yorkshire and listen to the byrd’s swete song among the blossoms.    We will swingeth a bat with Babe Ruth in a Field of Dreams in Iowa.   We will boldly visit the Gamma Quadrant with  E.T. on the holodeck of the U.S.S. Enterprise, while Jules Verne offers us a ride on a balloon.    We will not be broken.    We will find that place because the sun is on our side.

We thanketh Natasha Bedingfield for taking us away.   We bow to her talent and send her Camelot wishes.

Natasha’s mother, Molly Bedingfield, is the founder of “ Global Angels ”.   Global Angels is an innovative international children’s charity championing the needs of children around the world.   The charity inspires people from all walks of life to become ‘Angels’, by putting compassion into action to make the difference in the lives of millions of children.   Natasha Bedingfield is part of this chariot of compassion.  We knew she had a good heart.

No more unto you at this time,

Lady Sharon,

Pocketful of Sunshine Lyrics

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.

Do what you want, but you’re never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days
Take me away: A hiding place.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.

Do what you want, but you’re never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.

Wish that you could, but you ain’t gonna own me.
Do anything you can to control me.

You can’t control me
You can’t control me.
Oh, no.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days
Take me away: A hiding place.

 There’s a place that I go
That nobody knows
Where the rivers flow
And I call it home

 And there’s no more lies.
In the darkness, there’s light.
And nobody cries. There’s only butterflies.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it’s all mine.
Oh.

The sun is on my side.
Takes me for a ride.

I smile up to the sky.
I know I’ll be all right.

The sun is on my side.
Takes me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I’ll be all right.

    Hi Nardine and Sandy,

Natasha does rock. 🙂 The magic of music is the different energies it can emit. The fusion of melody, lyrics, voice, emotion and instruments move differently within each of us. It is fascinating how these notes can be given so many varied interpretations. Some songs seem to reinvent themselves and bring even deeper meaning. Thank you Sandy for sharing your thoughts.

  30. Jim says:

    Hello from Campbell, California!

Just wanted to leave you a quick note to let you know how your “Take Me Away” song instantly touched me as soon as I heard it for the first time.

It is one of those clean, thoughtful, fun and energetic songs that ‘takes listeners away’ on fantasy trips, especially on trying, tireing days!

It reminds me of how much I get lost in the arms of the woman I love, and that cannot be expressed any better than how you do it in your song. It is where my wife takes me whenever I look into her wonderful irish eyes!

    Thanks for the exemplary song.

  32. Lady Sharon says:

    Dear Patrick,

How wonderful to hear your thoughts on this great song. There is an innocence about the song with a strong under current. Good music transcends boundaries and touches all souls. I pray one day we will all be in a better place. Each day if we try to make this world more loving then in a way we will find that place in the journey.
And we agree Natasha is very pretty.

    Fare thee well Patrick,

  33. Marisol says:

I too find the song inspiring, and my interpretation of the song is totally different than most listeners. When I hear this song, I feel, finally someone came up with the lyrics to a song that I can relate too. In my interpretation of the song – it speaks of being lied too, being in a relationship with a person that wants to bring her down as well as control her. Its like she finally open her eyes and refuses to (be) or (listen) to what this person has to say, she knows that she has a lot to offer and she also talks about knowing a place where she goes or will go to, where there is no more lies and pain where she only sees or will see butterflies. Anyhow, I hope I didn’t piss anyone with my interpretation of the song.

  34. Lady Sharon says:

    Wilcume Marisol to Camelot,

I thinketh your interpretation is eye opening. I can see how you could see the song in this way. It is fascinating how music once it enters us, takes us all to different places. And sometimes we travel to the same place.

Art transcends boundaries. It moves something inside of us and vibrates in our soul. We love to hear how you feel or what you see when music enters your stratosphere. We embrace all interpretations because it deepens out connection to one another.

We thanketh you Marisol for opening our eyes and we wilcume you to ride by our Kingdom anytime for your words are special.

May you ride to your place of sunshine and butterflies.

    Take care,

    Hello Jim,

I was reviewing my comments and I realized I had missed your heartfelt thoughts. I apologize.

Your words describing how you are taken to a special place in the arms of your woman that you love, were beautiful. You are both blessed to find such a love.
