Knights of the Pain Table

A Camelot for Sufferers of Chronic Pain

Kanye West – Everything I’m Not Made Me Everything I Am

Kanye   West

Artists are often the first ones to anticipate social change.   Their voices can reflect changes or keep us anchored to truth.   It is wise to listen to their voices and appreciate the value of their message.

Kanye West,  a brilliant Hip Hop Artist,  works very hard on his music to make it as real and honest as possible.    He sculpts his thoughts and his attitudes and invites us through the impasse where he is searching for a truth.    As he experiences revelations and expresses his emotions we hear the echo in ourselves.    His music is intuitive and inspiring.

This inspiring song “Everything I Am”, is from his latest album, “Graduation”, which has won three Grammy Awards.

Hey Kanye we loveth your song “Everything I Am”.    Damn you are good.    Each one of us feels this pressure to conform.    Each day we feel it.    Your voice speaks to us Kanye and we hear your voice.

Deep within each of us is the sound of our own vibration.    If we truly listen we can hear the strings of our core and find the sense of who “I Am”.    Kanye is singing about the perpetual search to keep hearing one’s own voice,  in a sea of noise and other voices.

Life gives us layers of clothing to wear to conform to our surroundings.    The world can then take away your worth,   by stripping away your layers of clothing,   one by one.

As the world strips each layer away,  you feel naked and can become nothing in this world.    Kanye draws on his own experience in the limelight as a symbol to show that out of nothing you find something even greater.   Kanye sees the façade and how people become obsessed with controlling other people’s lives because they have not mastered their own.    He gets that every day you still have to stand up and fight for that nothing.

If one suffers with great pain,  life will strip away your clothing,  one layer at a time.   You may no longer look successful,  or look cool,  or look beautiful to the outside world.  You may not have a prestigious job,  or a plethora of friends,  or the latest technology.  You may feel judged or put down or forgotten as the world goes on without you.    As you stand naked and broken remember Kanye’s words “Everything I’m Not  Made Me Everything I Am”.

Remember dear Knights of the Pain Table that all those times you seem to fail do not lessen you.   They sculpt you to be a person with more depth, compassion and love.   It is out of nothing that you rise out of the ashes as  the true Knight you were meant to be.

You are a Knight of the Pain Table and ever will be by the grace of King Arthur and we love thee.

Your Humble Scribe,
Lady Sharon

We thanketh Kanye for staying real and creating music out of feelings.  And we will sing every time that we are knocked down, “Everything I’m Not  Made Me Everything I Am”.

Kanye West grew up in Chicago and became a brilliant record producer for Jay-Z and other hip-hop giants.    His soulful approach to hip-hop made him very successful.  Then in 2002, he was involved in a near fatal car accident in California which changed his life. In recovery,  he had his jaw wired to his face in reconstructive surgery.   Two weeks after being admitted to hospital he recorded his first song,  “Through the Wire”,  where he relieves the experience.   The song ends with these words,

“But I’m a champion, so I turned tragedy to triumph
Make music that’s fire, spit my soul through the wire”.

This triumphant track forged a new direction for this creative genius.    Kanye West has gone on to win 9 Grammy Awards and sell millions of albums.    Many of his songs do inspire.  We doth love Kanye West and preye he can continue to share his talent and his insight.

 Everything I Am

Oh oh ohoo.
damn, here we go again.
Oh oh ohoo.
Common passed on this beat, i made it to a jam,
Now everything im not, made me everything i am.

Damn, here we go again.
People talkin shit, but when the shit hit the fan
Everything i’m not, made me everything i am.

I never be picture-perfect-Beyonce
Be light as Albi or black as Chauncey
Remember him from Blackstreet
He was as black as the street was
I’ll never be laid back as his beat was
I never could see why people’ll reach a
Fake-ass facade they couldn’t keep up
Y’see how I creeped up?
Y’see how I played a big role in Chicago like Queen Latifah?
I never rock a mink coat in the winter time like Killa Cam
Or rock some mink boots in the summertime like will.i.am
Let me know if you feel it man
Cause everything I’m not, made me everything I am

Damn, here we go again.
Everybody sayin’ what’s not for him
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am
Damn, here we go again.
People talk shit, but when shit hits the fan
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am

And i’m back to tear it up
Haters, start your engines
I hear ‘em gearin’ up
People talk so much shit about me at barbershops
They forget to get their hair cut
Okay fair enough, the streets is flarin’ up
Cause they want gun-talk, or I don’t wear enough
Baggy clothes, Reebok’s, or A-di-dos
Can I add that he do spaz out at his shows
So say goodbye to the NAACP award
Goodbye to the In-di-a Arie award
They’d rather give me the nigga-please award
But I’ll just take the I-got-alotta-cheese award

Damn, here we go again.
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am
Damn, here we go again.
People talk shit, but when shit hits the fan
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am

I know that people wouldn’t usually rap this
But I got the facts to back this
Just last year, Chicago had over 600 caskets
Man, killin’s some wack shit
Oh, I forgot, ‘cept for when nigga’s is rappin’
Do you know what it feel like when people is passin’?
He got changed over his chains, a block off Ashlamd
I need to talk to somebody, pastor
The church want time, so I can’t afford to pay
The slip on the door, cause I can’t afford to stay
My 15 seconds up, but I got more to say
That’s enough Mr. West, please no more today

Damn, here we go again.
Everybody sayin’ what’s not for him
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am
Damn, here we go again.

People talk shit, but when shit hits the fan
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am
Listen to Kanye sing “Stronger”.
