Lisa Strong A Special Mom, A Special Woman of Great Courage
Lisa Strong
“For man’s greatest actions are performed in minor struggles. Life, misfortune, isolation, abandonment and poverty are battlefields which have their heroes – obscure heroes who are at times greater than illustrious heroes.”
~ Victor Hugo
Six years ago, Lisa Strong faced an unimaginable shock. To save her life the doctors would have to amputate her arms and legs. The terror that must have gripped her heart, would have destroyed most people.
Yesterday her story was documented on CNN and I’d like to share this moving story.
As she mentions her loss did not end in the surgery. Due to the tragic circumstances she lost her career, her husband, and any control over her life. Everything had changed.
With young children, whom she saw 50% of the time, it must have been so hard to depend on them. It is very hard to deal with feelings of helplessness. A severe illness not only affects the patient, but also all those that orbit in their life.
Lisa ends her story by saying:
When this happened to me I didn’t get upset. I didn’t cry.
I just realized that God saved my life and it is probably for a particular reason/ purpose.
It was my faith that got me through.
This one belief has carried her over treacherous heartbreaking waters. Our beliefs can anchor us or steer our ship, when we are too weak to move. I am in awe of the strength of Lisa Strong and the conviction of her belief. And she has not only made it through six years, but she has not lost her heart in her journey.
I think her son and daughter are beautiful human beings and she is part of them. Her son called her a “Special Mom”. We think that Lisa is a “Special Knight”, and we pray that she feels less heartache and more of the love that she deserves. We bow our heads to this noble Knight of the Pain Table, Lady Lisa.
Your humble Scribe,
Lady Sharon
