Joe McElderry and Stacey Solomon Excel on X Factor -They are Not Alone
X Factor
Don’t let the sun go down on me Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free But losing everything is like the sun going down on me
On Saturday the British TV talent show, “The X Factor” on ITV, continued the search for the next winner of this singing competition. The remaining six acts sang classic songs from Wham! and George Michael as their inspiration.
It is often in the final weeks of TV talent shows, that a dark horse emerges to challenge the favourites of the competition. This week Joe McElderry jolted forward and stole the show with his rendition of “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”. Written by Elton John, the song is about someone he has helped, but is now rejecting him.
Joseph McElderry is an 18 year old English singer from South Shields, England. Initially on the X Factor, Joe did not stand out as much as some other of the singers. However, during his participation in the charity single of Michael Jackson’s poignant song, “You Are Not Alone”, his voice seemed to find the right place to soar. With some time, Joe will be able to really develop his talent. The sun will not go down on Joe McElderry.
There’s no chance for us It’s all decided for us This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us
Last week Stacey Solomon, a 20 year-old single mother from Dagenham, Essex, sang a beautiful rendition of “Who Wants To Live Forever”. This powerful ballad is from the English Rock band, Queen. In the film “The Highlander” the song is used express the feelings that Connor MacLeod endures, as his beloved wife Heather grows old and is dying while he, as an Immortal, is forever young.
Stacey has amazing potential to follow in the footsteps of past winner, Leona Lewis.
The X Factor finalists this year sang as their charity single “You Are Not Alone”, by Michael Jackson. The proceeds of the song will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
You can hear the finalists sing the song at the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity Website.
