Charlene Reaveley – A True Hero

On Saturday night a tragic accident occurred in Coquitlam, BC. Around 12:25 a.m. an SUV Pathfinder hit a concrete barrier at an intersection and spun around. The 26 year old female driver, Lorraine Cruz, and her 28 year old boyfriend were hurt but not seriously.

At the time Charlene Reaveley, aged 30 , and her husband were driving by and witnessed the accident. They stopped out of concern, and went across the highway to help the victims.

Apparently Charlene Reavely was standing outside the vehicle on the passenger side helping Lorraine, when suddenly a white Jeep side-swiped the Pathfinder, instantly killing the two women.

If that was not tragic enough, the driver of the Jeep then proceeded to flee the scene, leaving the dying women on the side of the road.

The boyfriend suffered leg and head injuries and Reaveley’s husband who witnessed this horrific accident was terribly distraught and not doing well.

The white Jeep was found abandoned a few kilometres from the accident shortly after, but the driver was not in the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep, a 37-year-old Port Coquitlam man, was arrested Sunday afternoon and is scheduled to appear in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court today.

Charlene Reavely had four children ranging in age from 18 months to 10 years old. Both women were very much loved by their families and all around them.

We thanketh Charlene and her husband for aiding those they thought were injured and putting their own lives at risk. Tonight King Arthur and all in Camelot shall bow their heads and say a special prayer for both families and all those who loved them.
They will not be forgotten.

UPDATED FEB 22nd – The family of Charlene Reaveley has set up a trust fund for her husband Dan, and the couple’s four children. Contributions can be made in person at the Shaughnessy Street branch of the Royal Bank in Port Coquitlam, or at any Royal Bank. Ask that funds be directed to “Dan Reaveley in Trust”, branch #:04320 Account #:5032180.

Paolo Calimbahin, Lorraine Cruz’s boyfriend, remains in serious condition at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. Tragically CKNW reports doctors were forced to amputate part of one of his legs. Our thoughts are with him.

With Sadness,

Lady Sharon
