Knights of the Pain Table

A Camelot for Sufferers of Chronic Pain

Our Lancelot, Robert Goulet, is Fighting for His Life – Camelot is with Him

Lancelot

For one brief, shining moment, Robert Goulet was Sir Lancelot in Lerner and Loewe’s hit broadway musical, Camelot in 1960. But, alas our Lancelot is now heavily sedated and breathing through a respirator in a Los Angeles hospital. Vera Goulet, his wife, is by his side and said that he is awaiting a lung transplant. A suitable donor has yet to be found.

When he was a child, his Father called him to his side at his deathbed and said, “God gave you a voice, you must sing.” Robert Gerard Goulet honoured his Father’s wish, and used his voice to entertain many generations, in movies, plays, radio, television and commercials. He rose to international stardom as Lancelot, in the Broadway play, Camelot, with Sir Richard Burton and Dame Julie Andrews. He received favourable reviews, most notably for his show-stopping romantic ballad, If Ever I Would Leave You.”   In this video, Robert Goulet sings If Ever I Would Leave You. .

A survivor of prostrate cancer, he decided to give inspirational lectures to educate others of the importance of early detection of prostrate cancer. Robert Goulet, at age 73, has now been diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis. According to HealthCentral.com, Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis is the scarring and thickening of the lung tissues, a form of interstitial lung disease.

Before his hospitalization, our Lancelot was on the road with his career retrospective, The Man and His Music. He last performed Sept. 20 in Syracuse, New York.

Here is a clip of some of the highlights of his show.

Our prayers are with you dear Lancelot. The Knights of the Pain Table are riding with you. If you wish to send a message of support, you can visit Robert Goulet’s Website.

If ever you would leave us
It couldn’t be in autumn
How you’d leave in autumn we never will know
sWe’ve seen how you sparkle
When fall nips the air.
Summer, winter or fall!
No, never could you leave us at all!

Camelot Greetings Roxanne and Prof. Julio Cezar do Amaral,

You both were kind to send your prayers of support to Robert Goulet and his family.

Roxanne I too grew up watching Robert Goulet on television and enjoyed his singing and his sense of humour.

Prof. Julio we appreciate your words from another part of this world, Rio de Janeiro. When we loose someone who has given us moments of beauty our hearts feel a little lost as we remember their gift. I thanketh you for your beautiful message.

May our Lancelot now sing in heaven.
